Meet Mark Engel, the Man Behind Atlanta Auto Restoration

There is more than 40 years of experience behind every restoration at Atlanta Auto Restoration. It starts with one person, our founder, Mark Engel.

How it started

In 1986, Mark entered the automotive collision industry after a car accident changed the direction of his life. He started in a collision shop, doing the work that every good body man learns first, cleaning, sanding, and taping vehicles for paint.

That shop floor work turned into something bigger. What began in collision repair became a deeper passion for restoring the cars that defined generations.

Learning the craft

Mark went to technical school to specialize in collision repair, restoration, and refinishing. He then worked at a local restoration shop in several roles, restoring antique and classic vehicles and learning the trade from the ground up.

Eventually he took that experience and opened Atlanta Auto Restoration in Hampton, GA, a shop dedicated to classic cars, muscle cars, and restorations built with pride in craftsmanship.

What restoration means to him

For Mark, restoration is not simply about making an old car look new. It is about understanding the car, respecting its history, and bringing it back to the way it was meant to be.

That belief shows up in how the shop works. Many of our customers want to keep as much original metal as possible. Some want a factory correct restoration. Others want a few thoughtful modifications. Each job starts with listening.
